Please join us for our Anti-Racist Community Reflection. April 20th 5:30PM-7PM on our Events Terrace. 66 Ashley Street. G3 6HW. Everyone welcome!

We will be discussing...

  1. The second half of the book Go Tell It on the Mountain by James Baldwin. There is also the free audiobook version of the book on youtube here

  2. Series: The Truth About Scotland and Racism. Scotland often prides itself on being a welcoming, open and tolerant country when it comes to racism. Jean Johansson meets the men, women and children telling a different story.
She revisits her own experiences growing up in Scotland in the 1980s and looks at what has changed in 2022, hearing some uncomfortable truths and shocking realities,
    available on iplayer here

  3. Podcast series: Three Pounds in my Pocket. Available here Kavita Puri hears the stories of pioneering Asians who came to Britain from the 1950s onwards.

  4. Film: King Richard in the inspiring true story of the coach/mentor/father that brought us Venus & Serena Williams.
King Richard is available to watch on Amazon Prime costing £4.99 to rent. Other online spots offering the film at the same price include Apple TV , YouTube and Google Play.

Along with our more general conversations around peoples experience of racism and proposed Anti-Racist material for the group to engage with next time.

Our group has decided to read our next book. A Migrants Guide to the Western Galaxy by Azedah Sufiyan. Available for £7.99 from Aye Aye book shop here (or you can pick one up from Aye Aye book shop in CCA)

If they are out of stock then the book shop Good Press also sells it. Just to add if anyone wants to purchase it a bit cheaper it comes as an ebook on amazon. But we recommend you support Aye Aye! We will be discussing this book early June.

As with all of our events we encourage you to do lateral flow tests before attending.

Anyone is welcome to these discussions. Please feel free to come along and listen even if you have not engaged with our chosen material as it can still be a great experience to hear people talk about what they've learned.
