Woodlands Community is governed by a volunteer board of charity trustees.

Our trustees are local residents and are responsible for making strategic decisions about where we focus our activity to achieve the best results for Woodlands. They also ensure that the organisation and its finances are well managed. We currently have 8 charity trustees:

Michael Weatherhead (chair)

Martha Wardrop (vice-chair)

Yanru Zou (treasurer)

Fiona Hart

Juan Sebastián Sánchez

Lillian Anyadi

Roberta Weber

Sara Jane Mcintosh

Joining our Board - we are recruiting!

We are keen to recruit
- a trustee with a particular interest in helping us to develop our Anti-racism work and to advise on implementation of our organisation’s Anti-racist Action Plan;
- a Young person (aged 18-25) who can for example help us on our strategy to engage with the large student population in our area.

We are also looking to recruit additional trustees with expertise or experience in
Fundraising, in particular non-grant fundraising.
HR/Personnel  to provide support on staffing issues and policies.

Our board meets 10 times per year, usually from 6.30-8pm on the last Wednesday of the month.

The average time commitment we ask for from trustees is around 6 hours per month.

Joining the Woodlands Community board is an opportunity to be a part of an active board that works closely with the team and volunteers in the delivery of the Trust’s mission and vision. Whist trustees tend to join because of an interest in one area of Woodlands work, they end up learning and gaining from exposure to the other areas of the Trust’s work. Between the monthly board meetings, trustees can often be found helping in the community garden, attending Woodlands clear ups, popping into our community café or attending a film screening of our anti-racist library. The experience of being on a board, and gaining an understanding of issues around strategy, governance and funding, can also aid people looking to build a career in the charity sector.
