Nurture in Nature

Nurture in Nature is our one-to-one, outdoor talking support service with a mental health specialist

It is primarily aimed at supporting people whose mental health has been impacted by the Cost of Living Crisis.

Do you live, study, or work in or around Woodlands?

Have you find yourself feeling more anxious or worried due to financial pressures and/or rising bills?

Could you benefit from free and confidential mental health support?

Then our Nurture in Nature mental health service may be able to help you.

One to One Support

The Cost of Living Crisis has impacted many of us. Worries about day to day finances, can exacerbate existing mental health challenges, as well as create new ones.

If you are
- feeling isolated or stressed
- suffering from anxiety or depression
- feeling overwhelmed
- not sure who to turn to for help

then to help you cope, we are offering a free Nurture in Nature Support Service with Judy Jamieson, a local mental health specialist.

Meetings take place in one of a number of green spaces in and around Woodlands Community Garden. In choosing locations, we take account of where you feel most comfortable, and the need for privacy and confidentiality. Walking and talking in a local park is also an option. Just being in a natural environment can alleviate stress and improve all-round wellbeing. Nature has the capacity to soothe and restore us.  This will be a relaxed space to talk, share and rest in nature.

The level of support we can provide will vary from person to person. However for most people we are able to offer up to 5 one to one support sessions and people are normally seen within a couple of weeks of first contacting us.

Text or call Judy on 07545 659636 or email Judy to arrange a FREE and confidential appointment at a time that suits.

You can also get in touch by filling out a short online referral form.

PLEASE NOTE:
We are currently prioritising new referrals from the local Woodlands area.
If you live outside of Woodlands, we may need to signpost you to other available services.

By Katrina Caldwell

During the pandemic, we realised the importance of encouraging people to spend time in nature to help them recover from the stress of dealing with Covid-19. We exist within the natural world, are surrounded by it and rely on it in more ways than we can imagine. But often, beyond a fleeting glance to check the weather, we forget to look and really experience it as we live our busy lives and travel from A to B.

In 2021 we arranged for one our raised bedders and local wildlife and conservation enthusiast, Katrina Caldwell to produce a special ‘Slow Nature Walking’ booklet.

You can download the booklet for free. A limited edition print version was available, but is now sold out.
