MORE INFO
This year, Woodlands Community’s event for Refugee Festival Scotland will look at the migration of people and seeds. We will be celebrating their journeys, and all the diverse things that people grow in our Community Garden. There will be opportunities to taste a dish made from one of these plants, learn about seed saving, and take part in themed crafts. There will be dancing, games for all ages and a chance to share your own stories too. A plant-based meal will also be available from our Warm Welcome Community Cafe.
We will have:
Dabke Dancing workshop, performance and stall from ZarifAtToul AsSamer
A focus on sukuma wiki, a collard green from southern Africa, with space to learn how the plant grows, sow or take away some seeds, and a chance to taste a dish cooked with the leaves with Nico Ndlovu
A space to share your own stories of plants and foods you love that have traveled around the world
Craft station for people to paint words for LOVE in many languages
Active games for children, themed around seeds
Our Anti-Racist Community Library
Language Exchange
Maria Ali, henna artist
More food from our Warm Welcome Community Cafe
The opportunity to read the publication, A Plate Is A Homeland, a cookbook of new writing and recipes made by our Sessional Chef Luna Issa.
