MORE INFO

Tina Freeland teaches Iyengar Yoga classes at Woodlands for People of Colour. The classes are free to attend and have been generously funded by Iyengar Yoga UK. By supporting these classes, IYUK are giving a clear signal about their intentions in becoming a more inclusive organisation. We thank them for listening to their POC members.

Iyengar yoga is also accessible to people of all abilities because of its use of props – such as foam bricks, blocks, belts and even chairs, that enable the practitioner to experience the essence of each asana no matter their physical capability.

This means that every body is able to work to develop their strength, stability and mobility due to the teacher’s ability to adapt poses and therefore make classes inclusive, creating equal access for everyone.

Tina had been practicing Iyengar Yoga for over 20 years before she decided that she wanted to be a teacher. She began because yoga was recommended to help with her back problems and continued because of the benefits to her physical health and general well-being. Tina was attracted to the Iyengar method because it is authentic, and incorporates all aspects of the ancient yoga tradition.

This class is a special end of year, restorative session which will run from 6-7pm. This will be followed by a wee social, from 7-8.30pm. People are invited to attend the social even they can’t make the class.

This event is open to all People of Colour aged 18+
