  • Woodlands Workspace 66 Ashley Street Glasgow United Kingdom (map)

Free but ticketed via Eventbrite.

Learn how to extend the lifespan of your shoes and about the carbon impacts of the footwear industry and shoe waste and what you can do about it! An interactive, hands-on workshop delivered by a professional cobbler with 30 years of experience in the craft in collaboration with the founder of REPAIREL.

Bring your favourite pair of shoes along and we will show you how to properly clean, polish and waterproof them and how to get them winter-ready. All the tools and supplies will be provided. All your shoe and shoe repair related questions will be answered!

Learn how many pairs of shoes are sold in UK each year and what happens to them when they go to landfill, how many metric tons of CO2eq are generated by the footwear industry, the cost of throwaway fast fashion, what is happening to shoe repair trade and skills and what are some of the possible solutions to these issues (touching on the Right to Repair movement, circular economy as well as some new local solutions that you can engage with).
