Woodlands Climate Action 2021 Coffee Chats - The Celebritisation of Climate Change

  • 66 Ashley Street Glasgow United Kingdom (map)

There is a lot to feel nervous about these days, and while the effects of the pandemic are often in the forefront of most of our minds, many of us are simultaneously combating anxiety related to the climate crisis.

Please join us for our weekly Climate Action 2021 Coffee Chats on our community terrace, where each week we will chat about a different topic relating to the climate crisis, to offer support, advice or even just a sympathetic ear as well as connect community members during these isolating times.

This week’s topic we will be discussing the role of prominent celebrities in tackling the climate crisis. Climate change has become a much more commonly discussed topic in the last decade or so and while this is largely a positive thing, many celebrities will use the climate crisis as an excuse to endow their personal brand with climate-related virtue. Are such celebrities helping the cause overall? Should we even be looking to such people for help on these problems? Are these people wielding their power responsibly or simply hopping on the bandwagon to appease their fans?

Please join us! The climate chat will be hosted on our community terrace at 66 Ashley Street.

Email, text or call Xander on xander@woodlandscommunity.org.uk or 07708 474895 to register for this event for free.

Tea/coffee and vegan bakes will be provided!
