Cyclists! Woodlands Community is hosting a free training course for 7 people to become a Cycle Ride Leader to lead group rides. The course is run and certified by Cycling Scotland.

This is a one day course that provides a useful introduction to cycling leadership for 18+

The Cycle Ride Leader & Assistant Cycle Ride Leader course is an 8-hour course that covers the skills necessary to lead cycle rides on roads and on recognized cycle paths - canal towpaths would also be included in this such as the one near Woodlands Community Development Trust. We will also look at risk assessments, route planning, how to plan a session while every participant will get the chance to lead the group on a short section of our designated route.

You must have recent experience riding a bike and feel ready to assume responsibility for a group on a bike ride. You must ride confidently on roads with traffic for up to 2 hours, be able to cycle up moderate hills, and off road surfaces such as canal paths and be able to mend a puncture or replace a damaged inner tube.

You will need a roadworthy bike and clothing appropriate for the weather. You will also need to bring lunch/snacks unless the organiser is providing these.

In exchange of this certified FREE training we ask that you host a minimum of 5 volunteer cycle rides (negotiable) for our local community throughout the year ahead.

Sign up now help yourself develop your training repertoire and help others to gain cycle confidence. Its going to be fun!

We ask that you only sign up to this training if you are genuinely available to lead 5 bike rides in the next year and are interested in getting involved in our community.

You will need a roadworthy bike and clothing appropriate for the weather. You will also need to bring lunch/snacks.
