Mending Woodlands - pouches, purses and wallets out of plastic waste

  • woodlands community meeting room 66 Ashley Street Glasgow, Scotland, G3 6HW United Kingdom (map)

Janie Nicoll (Glasgow LIfe Artist in Residence) will build on a previous creative class Recovering Woodlands taking a low key, softly, softly approach, encouraging creativity in the form of art and writing. There will be different activities each week ranging from Eco-bricking to mending clothes and textiles, chatting, discussing issues around the climate emergency, and maybe even mending ourselves in the process…..

Ultimately the plan is to create some sort of ‘magazine-style’ overview of things that are going on in the area and we also hope to make enough eco-bricks to make an outdoor earth work construction using cob (cob workshop coming too in the new year all being well).

This week Tiziano Gali (@plastically) will be showing us how make plastic pouches, purses, wallets and plant pots using recycled plastic waste ironed into beautiful fabric sheets.

No previous experience needed and all welcome - we are meeting inside at Woodlands Community Meeting Room so are limited to 12 people so please get in touch (contact vicki@woodlandscommunity.org.uk) if you are planning to come along and do wear a mask.
