Plastic bags are typically seen as disposable items that are going to be used only a few times, if they are lucky, and then ending their life in a landfill - or worse - soon after, and the same goes for other plastic films used as food containers or wrapping material.
In this workshop we’ll learn how to create new items just by ironing together plastic bags: while a single layer of them is a thin and not very strong material, they can in fact become much sturdier, and the resulting sheets are as versatile as fabric. You can even sew different pieces together!
You can make a variety of items, like place mats, wallets, folders, plant pots, durable bags, or something more abstract and artistic: it’s up to you.
All material will be provided, but feel free to bring your own plastic bags if you wish!
The event is free to attend, but registration is required. You can do it here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/cc/waste-to-wonder-1076299
