Bringing people together for mutual support, collaboration and comfort.

New Indoor venue for 2022!

Visibility Scotland, 2 Queens Crescent, G4 9BW

Our Women of Woodlands Support Group is helping our community recover from the trauma of the rape and murder of our dear friend Esther Brown. The Group meet each Monday afternoon and provide a forum for reflection, rejuvenation and solidarity. Over time we will honour Esther's way of being through acts of kindness, compassion and collaboration.

As we emerge from a winter of Covid restrictions, the group offers a safe, friendly and welcoming space for local women to to come together.

The priorities for the group will be informed by the findings of a survey we organised last year, the results of which are currently being collated. However over 2022 we currently anticipate two main strands of activity:

1) a programme of community mental health and well-being activities for local women which will provide opportunities for healing and recovery, including those that are linked to nature, gardening and/or food (areas Esther was passionate about).

2) to provide training for women on issues relating to campaigning, criminal justice reform, community safety , so that women in the group can feel more confident and better informed in contributing to both local and national campaigns focussed on community safety and/or gender based violence.

This group has arisen out of an earlier online discussion group that was formed after the murder of Sarah Everard. The group met for the first time in person at the end of May and had decided to embark on a new 'Women of Woodlands' initiative. We hope that our newly formed Women of Woodlands Support group, (formed after the murder of Esther), will lead to a longer term project that will help us fulfill Esther's ambitions for a Woodlands neighbourhood based on friendship, mutual support, safety and equality.
