There is a lot to feel nervous about these days, and while the effects of the pandemic are often in the forefront of most of our minds, many of us are simultaneously combating anxiety related to the climate crisis.

Please join us for our weekly online Climate Action 2021 Coffee Chats, where each week we will chat about a different topic relating to the climate crisis, to offer support, advice or even just a sympathetic ear as well as connect community members during these isolating times.

This week we will be discussing the Scotland’s Deposit Return Scheme planned to go live in July 2022. Plastic (PET) and glass bottles as well as steel and aluminium cans will all be subject to an extra 20p cost, a deposit, which they will get back when they return the empty bottle or can to one of 17,000 Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) in Scotland. The deposit will be redeemed either as cash at a till, digitally, or as a voucher.

What do you think about this? Will a deposit scheme reduce litter on the streets, emissions from landfill, and improve the quality of recyclate (materials that can be recycled)?

Please join us with your views on this topic for a lively discussion in a friendly environment.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
