WOODLANDS CLIMATE CONVERSATIONS

Whether you are a student, school striker, concerned parent or just feeling overwhelmed by the climate crisis, join us to talk about how we can support each another and plan for a more sustainable future.  Open to all, irrespective of your knowledge of or involvement in climate issues.

Bring veggie/vegan food to share if you can.

“We are at a unique stage in our history. Never before have we had such an awareness of what we are doing to the planet, and never before have we had the power to do something about that. Surely we all have a responsibility to care for our Blue Planet. The future of humanity and indeed, all life on earth, now depends on us.” (David Attenborough)

"We are facing an existential crisis... it will have a massive impact on our lives in the future, but also now, especially in vulnerable communities. And I think that we should wake up, and we should also try to wake the adults up, because they are the ones who — their generation is the ones who are mostly responsible for this crisis, and we need to hold them accountable. " (Greta Thunberg)

Here at Woodlands Community we are proud of our strong environmental ethos. A commitment to looking after nature and living sustainably has been at the heart of all our work, including at our Community Garden which celebrates its 10th anniversary during 2020. However as 2019 turns to 2020 we are alarmed at the scale of the climate crisis and the massive threats to nature and our eco-systems. In 2020 the world's attention will turn to Glasgow as it hosts COP26, the UN Climate Change Summit in November. So during 2020 we will be looking to do even more to support local people to take action to look after the local environment and to raise awareness of both climate and bio-diversity issues.
