Movement workshop with Penny Chivas (Wellbeing Programme)

We are delighted to have 3 movement workshops with dancer Penny Chivas in July as part of our Summer wellbeing programme. Everyone is welcome to these workshops. Drop in no reservation necessary. No prior movement experience required.

About:

Beginning with movement practices inspired by both yoga and somatic
practices, we'll settle, ground, breathe and move gently together before
beginning to turn our attention outwards to find connections with the
surrounds in Woodlands. Depending on the weather, and needs of the
group, we may move and listen, draw and write but with a sense of
embodied practice in individual or group activities. Let's plant our
bodies and feet gently into the ground.

Please meet on the terrace at 1pm for each session, and we'll then make
a plan based around needs and weather for our sessions. Please wear
comfortable clothes and footwear, bring a water bottle, a pen and paper
and if it's sunny enough, maybe even sunscreen! Sessions are aimed to be
inclusive as possible, so please do let Penny/Eo from Woodlands staff team know of any
support required before or at the sessions. Either email eo@woodlandscommunity.org.uk or phone / text Eo on 07733 667102

Bio

Penny Chivas (she/her) is a dance artist living close to the Woodlands area. With a background in improvisation and somatic practices, alongside her work as a performer, she is now reflecting upon and investigating how art can support us to understand and be with our world. Penny will graduate from the Masters in Education programme at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland later this year.
