Part of FROM THE LOCAL TO THE GLOBAL,

our 2 week CLIMATE EMERGENCY EVENTS PROGRAMME for COP26

Hosted by Not1More and Bike for Good Glasgow

Not1More (N1M) is a small organisation established to support frontline environmental defenders around the world. In order to bring these voices to the forefront of the COP26 in Glasgow, the Together We Ride campaign was established by N1M in collaboration with Permaculture Action Mentors.

Together We Ride is a group cycle from London to Glasgow that will connect international environmental defenders with grassroots environmental protection efforts in the UK. On the ride, we will gather information from community activist groups to collect "a fact, hope and demand" for COP26 from each.

As a culmination of this ride, a patchwork gallery ‘Atmospheres of Resistance’ will be exhibited in venues across Glasgow, exploring environmental activism and focusing on the defenders who risk their lives to protect the natural world.

They will present a collection of photographs by environmental defenders from Brazil, Cambodia, and Bangladesh along with workshops with at-risk defenders from Brazil and Cambodia to allow sharing of experience, discussing climate justice, solidarity and cycling! Photographs by Cambodian documentarian Polen Ly, Indigenous Brazilian artist Edgar Xakriabá, and Bangladeshi human rights defender Philip Gain, along with British photojournalist Phil Clarke Hill.

Each set of works will be accompanied by a fact, hope and demand addressed to the Glasgow COP 26. Come along to chat to members of NIM, view their exhibition and take part in discussions around Climate Justice and solidarity.

Curious Commuter Stall

Alongside the exhibition and dicussion, there will be chance to visit Bike for Good Glasgow’s Curious Commuter Stall. Curious Commuter is your opportunity to find out everything you want to know about taking up cycling. If you're thinking about cycling to work, school, or anywhere, we can help you access support to build your skills and confidence on the roads and cycle paths. There will be free maps of local cycle routes for you, as well as plenty of practical tips and advice about riding a bike in the city.
